Movember
Movember 2012
This year over 26,000 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Prostate Cancer Canada, the only national foundation for men’s health in Canada, estimates that one in six men will be diagnosed with the disease that often has no signs or symptoms in its early stages.
The idea is to get donations from family and friends that will ultimately be donated to a prostate cancer foundation.
The moustache also acts as a symbol of prostate cancer awareness much like a pink ribbon acts as a symbol for breast cancer awareness. In Canada, those donations go to Prostate Cancer Canada.
The good news is the disease is treatable in its early stages. This makes awareness and annual testing essential.
Mountain FM is teaming up with the Lion's Head Pub and Andrew Sheret to mane Movember 2012 the biggest Men's Health Month the Kootenays has ever seen.
