Rock Notes

Congratulations to Rush for being nominated into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Even though they don't really seem to care either way, it's always great to see your favourites get recognition. Check out this video from 1974 with original drummer John Rutsey, it's a live performance of Working Man recorded at Laura Secord Secondary School in Ontario.  It's part of the 2010 documentary, Rush:  Beyond The Lighted Stage.

Rutsey parted ways with Geddy and Alex not long after this and passed away from complications to diabetes in 2008. Neil Peart joined the band after they held auditions in July of 1974. Neil showed up in a station wagon full of drums and he was hired the same day.

In other news, Billy Corgan is being sued by Grey's Anatomy actor Eric Dane.  This came about after a tree on Corgan's property fell and crashed into Dane's house, nearly killing his pregnant wife.  Thankfully no one was hurt, although Dane's house was severely damaged.  The lawsuit claims that Corgan had been warned about that the trees on his property were shaky and dangerous which Corgan says is untrue.  Corgan said he was horrified when he found out about the accident and was grateful no one was hurt.  Corgan denied comment about the lawsuit but he said it's a shame this is happening 'because they are nice people."

Talk to you tomorrow on Morning Rocks!  Darren McPeake
