Jumbo Proponent: Potential Euro Investors Showing "Savvy"

February 20, 2012

The company behind the proposed mega resort at Jumbo in the East Kootenay says their visit to France earlier this month is not linked with possible imminent approval.

VP of Jumbo Glacier Resort Grant Costello suggests the French ski conglomerate who invited the Kootenay group to see what they could offer BC are trying to ensure they're making the right connections. He says there's a new generation of potential investor who wants to learn more about possible high-elevation ski operations in BC and "if" the project is approved by government they want to be "at the front of the line" as he put it.

One of the groups opposed of the mega project is the West Kootenay Coalition For Jumbo Wild. They have suggested the proponent must have funding problems as they also met bankers as part of the European trip. But Costello says its too early to be soliciting finance because they've yet to receive the Master Development Agreement from government .

But he suggests the potential French investors are showing some savvy in making contact with government and business should the green-light come soon.
