Hearne: Accountability Needed in IH Closure Incident

A Castlegar city councillor says someone needs to be held accountable for the temporary closure of Castlegar's emergency room earlier this month.

This after a public apology from Interior Health that Russ Hearne says failed to answer any of his questions regarding the incident.

Hearne says he feels as though he's lost faith in the health authority.

An IH representative told council last night the health authority was in the wrong with respect to how the closure was handled, adding IH was only made aware of the staffing shortage at Castlegar's ER the night before the shutdown.

People arriving at the facility on the afternoon of February 4th discovered a note on the door directing them to Nelson or Trail.
