Teck Holding Open House Tuesday

Teck Trail Operations is holding an open house Tuesday to receive public feedback on more than $300 million in new capital projects.

Work on the Number Four Furnace and Number One Acid Plant is underway; employees will be on hand at the Riverbelle to answer questions and conduct a presentation.

Teck says metal discharges from its operation will increase slightly when the new furnace is online, but state the amount of material released into the air and water is still well within its permitted levels.

The amount of sulphur dioxide in our air will decrease as the acid plant will help convert the SO2 gas into materials like fertilizer.

The open house runs from 6:00-8:30 pm Tuesday.
