Conroy Highlights Glaring Omissions In BudgetFebruary 22, 2012Our local MLA says the government's budget has some glaring omissions in it when it comes to areas critical to our region. Kootenay West New Democrat Katrine Conroy says there was nothing about forestry despite a scathing report on the state of the industry by the Auditor-General last week. And she poured scorn on the lone reference to seniors care in yesterday's budget speech by Finance Minister Kevin Falcon that offered a $1,000 rebate for home improvements. Conroy says there wasn't anything about home care and suppoirt. The budget focus is on balancing the books by next year. Conroy says the public have had enough of the Liberal's mismanagement and broken promises and they can see through the rhetoric that tries to portray the NDP as a party that would not be fiscally prudent in government. |
