Former members of the Fairview Athletic Club are reuniting on Monday night in Nelson.

 

The club existed from the early 1920s to the late 1950s and fielded youth teams in baseball, hockey, lacrosse, and other sports.

 

Reunion Organizer Al Dawson says the club -- and its Manager, the late Slim Porter -- taught him valuable lessons and values through sports that a lot of teenaged kids don't get.  About 45 people are coming from as far away as Ontario and Oregon.

 

The range in age from early 70s to early 90s.
