SD8 Parents Angered By Bus Changes
The Kootenay Lake School District Parent Advisory Council or DPAC is calling on parents to show up at the school board meeting in Nelson later today.
Many parents are upset about the newly implemented changes to bus service that see some kids having to spend up to 3 hours a day going to and from school.
DPAC Secretary Sheri Walsh says some kids at Brent Kennedy and Blewett Elementary face much longer trips compared to last year - in some cases double the time. She adds that one of the buses to LVR in Nelson arrives late each morning and causes class disruption. In other cases some buses are now packed and uncomfortable for kids while others are quiet.
School District 8 has changed the bus schedule to reduce costs.
The School Board meeting goes at Nelson at 5pm.
