Over 2,800 residents of Nakusp, New Denver and Silverton are without power until about 10pm Friday.

 

This after a main line across the Monashee's went down early Friday afternoon.  BC Hydro Spokesman Dag Sharman says normally power lines can be repaired while electricity is re-routed to some properties but that can't happen in this case.

 

He says it happens to be the transmission line that feeds the entire area and they need to fix it before power will be restored.  A brush fire along the route may be to blame.
