Train Derailment:UPDATE
Canadian Pacific Railway says there are still no leaks from the excavator which fell of a derailed train car into Kootenay Lake near Procter on Friday afternoon. A CPR spokesperson told us one of the two cars that was derailed has been rerailed and taken away, but the flat car and excavator have not yet been moved since the incident. Plans are now in the works to safely re-rail the flat car and remove the excavator, but CPR officials will take time to put in place the appropriate precautions before moving forward. Nobody was hurt as a result of the de-railment. The line was re-opened Sunday after track repairs and mandatory inspections were conducted. |
