Another Local Train Derailment

There has been another train derailment in our area, this time on the rail-line between Nelson and Castlegar.

According to CP Rail spokesman Ed Greenberg eight cars and four locomotives went off the tracks before 10am Tuesday in the Corra Linn area next to the dam on Kootenay River.

He says there were no injuries and there is no environmental spill. All the cars - which were carrying zinc concentrate- are upright . They were part of a 67-car train.

The cause is not yet known and an investigation is under way.

On Friday a train went off the tracks on the west arm of Kootenay Lake near Procter after it was hit by falling rock sending an excavator into the water.
